Synopsis: Stephen Olesky represented Lahkdar Boumidienne and other detainees held at Gauntanamo Bay in the landmark case Boumidienne v. Bush. This film explores the roots of the case and Mr. Olesky’s decision to take it on, going back to his childhood experiences during the McCarthy era and a summer he spent working on a voter registration drive in Mississippi.

Project Outline: Gabriel partnered with Elena Parker for this project, which they filmed in one day at Mr. Olesky’s home. Combining interview footage with painterly animation, the film approaches this national issue from a personal point of view.
